This is precisely the kind of media which supported the 1975 Emergency and continues to serve the elite. They wish to be the sole source of news so that they can prevent information from reaching the ordinary citizens.
You should have watched the “We the People” show yesterday. The topic was on Maoist violence. When a counter-insurgency expert was making a point, Barkha immediately cut him out and almost ridiculed him. Both Dinesh Trivedi and Kanchan Gupta admonished her saying that if she can allow people like Harsh Mander to say what he wants, why cant she allow others to speak as well?
Dinesh Trivedi infact questioned her democratic credentials by saying that whenever somebody was saying something that was not in agreement with her views, she would be cutting that person off! You should have seen Barkha’s face!
This is the first time I have seen someone standing up to her and she had no words to defend herself. She couldnt even say the standard lines (which Vikram Chandra always uses) like “Why do you always blame the media?” as a shield!

I m not surprised that people are so disappointed with barkha. She is the classic example of all that is bad with indian news channels.
I think for any man to loose credibility is the biggest setback and more so if one is journalist such as barkha. even though she is such a celebrity her biases are too loud and too prominent to ignore.
barkhs should understand that now because at this rate a day would come when she becomes a liability for NDTV that day she would b shown door and humiliated.
you ask me, i wont shed a tear if that happens, and happen it wil some day, sooner the better.

its not good to label a person upon his or her one or 2 actions.because no one is perfect.if some one is doing more good deeds and one or two negative things then y to label them completely bad.we have the freedom of speech.if we notice bad things we must point out and advice them to correct.so that we can create so many good people.in our india where women are restricted to kitchen,a lady becoming the india’s lead journalist is great.if we go in criticizing and discouraging people who r at least trying to bring a change in the society,we will not have any one to look upon.ryt.so utilising my freedom of speech i say comment if u see anything negative and give scope for them to rectify but don’t discourage by encouraging hatred…….
