All good things come to an end, some day.
Saurav bid adieu to international cricket with an emphatic win over mighty Kangaroos. It is important to leave at the ‘peak’ and for a cricketer of Sourav Dada’s stature – it is the most important to say good bye at a winning note. I am proud of you Dada.
I have been a fan of Dada for two reasons.
1. He is a left hand batsman. Those who love cricket a bit more know this for the fact that it is ‘pure delight’ to watch a left hand batsman taking on the bowlers. And Kambli and Lara and Viv Richards and Jaysurya; yes Alvin Kalicharn too were superb and pure delight to watch.
2. I love him for the ‘aggression’ Dada enthused in the team India. What we see today as team India, would not have been possible without Dada.
Many believe that Dada grew leap and bonds despite Little Master being his contemporary – is important. Some may find this argument strange but Dada made a place for self in the hearts of his million fans for this reason too and made niché for self. To his credit Dada has singel handedly won India more matches that Sachin.
Sachin no doubt is the greatest of all times, India rather World has ever seen, his records will be unassailable for years to come Sachin rules the record books. Dada ruled and will rule the hearts of those who understand Cricket a bit more seriously.
Bye Bye Sourav Dada, hope to see you soon in Cricket Arena in some other avatar.
Good Luck Dada and enjoy.
A request to Sourav: Dada do not disappoint us by joining CPI(M), PLEASE. :)

For a certain period, Saurav survived in the Indian Cricket Team only because of the politics and networking. While he didn’t deserve a place because of his poor form, he retained a place also because there was no other “captain” that India could have.
And sadly, I used to frequently watch cricket only during that period and I couldn’t do but curse him for that.
As such, he is a great player and there is no need to mind my comments, which are like 50 pale leaves out of a tree full of greenery…

1. The original master blaster Viv richards was right handed.
2. I disagree with the fact that Dada ‘single-handedly’ won more matches for India than Sachin did. They did equally bad job at that. In ODIs Sachin played better than him in the big matches (like the world cups. Tests they are nearly equal.
I do agree that he was aggressive and is one the major factors in making the Indian team confident and attacking.
